A Cabinet Memorandum has been tabled on the introduction of a long-term visa category and the granting of tax concessions to promote Sri Lanka as a favorable destination for digital tourists.
It was presented by the Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that a large amount of foreign exchange is circulating in the country due to these digital tourists staying in the country for months and years.
People who travel as tourists using digital technology for a living are called digital tourists.
The Ministry of Tourism further stated that the digital tourism industry is known as a new tourism sector that is developing around the world due to the Coronavirus situation
