Sri Lanka will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Georgia next month for the promotion of tourism, the Tourism Ministry said.
The decision was taken when Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga and Georgia Ambassador to Sri Lanka Archil Dzuliashvill met at the Tourism Ministry yesterday.
In a statement to the media, the Tourism Ministry shared that a proposal has been put forward to the Georgian Embassy in Sri Lanka by Minister Ranatunga to implement a joint promotion in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan
as well.
According to the initial plans, the Tourism Ministry will hold rounds of discussions with journalists, social media activists and travel agents from the three countries, to push the promotion of destination Sri Lanka forward.
The Tourism Ministry said Ambassador Dzuliashvill has pledged his fullest support in assisting Sri Lanka to lure Georgian tourists to the island nation, and also in tourism promotional efforts.
