IndiGo Airlines has announced the launch of daily flights between Trichy and Jaffna, Sri Lanka, starting on 30th March 2025. This marks the revival of a historic air route last operated by Air Ceylon nearly 50 years ago.
The new service will strengthen economic and tourism ties while reviving the deep-rooted cultural and ethnic connections between Tamil Nadu and northern Sri Lanka. The Trichy-Jaffna route is now the shortest international air link in South India and the second shortest in India.
IndiGo has also solidified its position as the largest foreign carrier operating out of Sri Lanka, now offering 54 weekly flights between India and Sri Lanka.
Acorn Aviation serves as IndiGo’s General Sales Agent (GSA) in Sri Lanka, playing a key role in expanding the airline’s presence in the region.
