Sri Lanka bars passengers from several southern African countries

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka has decided to bar entry to passengers from several southern African countries to Sri Lanka.

The decision will take effect from midnight on June 30, said Civil Aviation Authority Director General Captain Themiya Abeywickrema.

Due to the prevailing Covid-19 epidemic situation, steps have been taken to inform all airlines about this as instructed by the Ministry of Health.

Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority has informed all airlines that passengers with a travel history (including transit) in the past 14 days to Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe will not be permitted to disembark in Sri Lanka with effect from 0001hrs on 1st July 2021 (Local Time in Sri Lanka).

The above restriction is applicable until 2359hrs on 31st of July 2021, said Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Themiya Abeywickrama.
