Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the forthcoming ‘Hotel Show Colombo 2018’ organised by the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association (CHSGA) together with its professional event partner CDC Events will be held from 20 July to 22 July at the BMICH, Colombo. It will be supported by both the Government and private sector related establishments.
The mega event attracts products and services representing thousands of global brands, with visitors and buyers from Sri Lanka, Maldives, Seychelles, India and other South Asian countries attending. This event is recognised as a platform that guarantees its sponsors and exhibitors a high level of business opportunities to reach their business expectations.
Hotel Show Colombo, South Asia’s largest trade show for hotels, restaurants, cafes and catering services, takes place in order to meet the demand of both the buyers who are the entrepreneurs in the industry and sellers who manufacture and supply an array of raw materials, as well as providers of design, marketing service, and management. It also provides hotels the opportunity to showcase the talents of their staff at various competitions under the purview of international judges.
Key areas of hospitality such as National Barista Championship, National Tabletop Cooking, National Room Stylist Challenge, Culinary Master Class, Ceylon Tea Masters’ Cup and the Colombo Food Fest will be held concurrently.
As part of the Hotel Show, training programs and qualifying competitions in various sectors are being held in several regions around the country as a run up to the show. The areas of training would include Barista training, housekeeping and cooking programs to groom candidates to participate at the event.
Organising Committee Chairman Trevine Gomez said, “The spotlight is firmly on the hospitality industry in this region. Covering hundreds of hotels, some of the business deals orchestrated at this Show has been unprecedented, and this just goes to illustrate once more how continually forward-thinking and how the hospitality market is constantly growing in the country and region. The Hotel Show is thus setting itself up to provide the industry with an even larger showcase of the best products and insights.”
CHSGA President Samantha Gunarathna stated, “Hotel Show Colombo is a media platform with the mission to support, promote, and enhance the capabilities of Sri Lanka’s hotel industry, and to create marketing opportunities for entrepreneurs to be able to compete in the global market. CHSGA is very glad and willing to support this event that is regarded as a key economic driver of the country.”
CDC Events CEO/MD Imran Hassan said, “We are confident that Hotel Show Colombo will be a huge success, as we are providing not only a creative and training platform for the industry, but a venue to encourage educational opportunities among food and beverage enthusiasts and business opportunities as well.”
