Radisson Blu Hotel, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has become the first property in Radisson Hotel Group’s worldwide portfolio to achieve the esteemed LEED Net Zero Carbon Certification from the US Green Building Council.

Awarded by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), this prestigious certification highlights the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road’s commitment to sustainable building practices, advanced operational controls, and innovative technologies. It underscores the hotel’s extensive efforts, including significant investments in renewable energy and eco-friendly initiatives, aimed at consistently reducing its carbon footprint while advancing sustainable innovation in the region.

The LEED Net Zero Carbon certification represents a significant step forward in minimizing the environmental impact of buildings. For over two decades, LEED has provided a comprehensive framework for designing high-performance buildings that reduce greenhouse gas emissions through strategies addressing land use, energy, transportation, water, waste, and materials. Building on this foundation, USGBC introduced LEED Zero, which certifies the attainment of net-zero goals in existing structures. Notably, the Radisson Blu Hotel, Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, has become the first property in the global Radisson Hotel Group portfolio to achieve this landmark certification.

In addition to earning the LEED 4.1 O+M Existing Buildings Platinum Certification last year, the hotel has now reached this exceptional milestone by offsetting its annual carbon emissions of 4,038 metric tons, attributed to electricity, diesel, and transportation. This achievement was made possible through a comprehensive approach involving the integration of solar power plants (both onsite and offsite), an onsite biogas facility, and the purchase of Gold Standard Verified Carbon Units to address residual emissions. The solar power plants alone produce sufficient energy to power the property entirely with green energy, enabling the hotel to maintain net-zero energy consumption throughout the year.
